Version 6 Program Enhancements
Version 6.9 (9/10/05) Updated the link to the On-Line order for on the Help > About form and fixed the default directory in the update program.
Version 6.8 (2/19/03) Fixed a problem with the email selected and email exclude databases where the program would not select or exclude a number if it was in your area code and the box "Always Include Area Code with Phone Number" box was check on the Email tab of the settings.
Version 6.71 (1/18/03) Fixed a problem that some modems would not hang up and/or reset. Also the dropdown list box would sometimes not show all the TAPI Devices but would repeat one device over and over.
Version 6.6 (1/10/03) Fixed a problem when clicking on the Dial tab in the program settings (sometimes the controls would not show).
Version 6.55 (12/9/02) Fixed a problem hanging up the modem you when place a call using the program (only applies to the non-TAPI mode).
Version 6.55 (11/28/02) Added a tool that allows you to convert words contained in phone numbers to numbers and allows you to dial it. To do so, go to the menu to Dial > Convert Word to Digits.
Version 6.54 (10/21/02) Change the delay to give up waiting for the caller id name in the tapi mode from 0.1 second to 0.25 second.
Version 6.53 (9/16/02) Added support for the caller id format "Caller: " followed by the number.
Version 6.52 (8/19/02) When remotely retrieving voice mail, you can now press 8 on your phone to repeat the last message while the prompt to save or erase the message is playing.
Version 6.51 (8/10/02) Added a new DDE variable button "Dashed Phone ###-###-####" with a variable named %Dashedphone%. This variable removes the parenthesis from the formatted phone number and changes the space to a minus sign. Also when the answering machine greeting is playing giving you instructions to press 1 to leave a message, you can press 9 and the program will not answer the next call. This is useful if you have a fax machine attached to the same line and you need to send a fax. Just call and when the answering machine answers, press 9 and hang up. Then send a fax to you line and the program will not answer letting your fax machine answer.
Version 6.5 (7/19/02) Modified DDE settings so you can customize the text it sends to the DDE Application. You can now press buttons to automatically enter the variables. The variables were rename with the first letter capitalized and %Remarks" changes to %Rings%. The revised variable names are %Name%, %Phone%, %Formattedphone%, %Date%, %Time% and %Rings%.
Version 6.48-V6.49 (7/19/02) Modified DDE settings so you can customize the text it sends to the DDE Application. You can enter any text and also use the substitution strings %phone%, %name%, %date%, %time%, %remarks% and %formattedphone%.
Version 6.47 (7/12/02) Modified code again described in V6.4 that allows the program to dial a number and play the incoming announcement to fix delays.
Version 6.46 (7/5/02) Modified code again described in V6.4 that allows the program to dial a number and play the incoming announcement to fix delays. Fixed when you connect the call by speakerphone, the program will now disable the incoming digit processing and stop any message playback. Now the caller id pop-up window and audio output occurs before the photo display and network broadcasting.
Version 6.45 (6/27/02) Modified code described in V6.4 that allows the program to dial a number and play the incoming announcement to fix delays.
Version 6.44 (6/18/02) Added the ability for the program to automatically purge older records from the database. To set this up go to Tools > Settings > Misc > Purge Data Records for Calls Older than Specified Days > for "Purge Records for Calls Older Than _ Days" select the number of day or "OFF" to never purge > Close. Now every midnight the program will automatically delete the records older than the number of days you specified. If you want to purge the records immediately, from the main menu, select File > Purge Data Records Now. If you want to undo that, go to File > Undo Last Purge.
Version 6.43 (6/14/02) When you connect the call by speakerphone, the program will now disable the incoming digit processing and stop any message playback.
Version 6.41-6.42 (6/11/02) Broadcasting of network messages no longer broadcasts outgoing calls. Fixed a problem where the program would sometimes say "End of Messages" when using Whozz Calling hardware. If you are using a Rochelle Plug as your second line, it will now identify the call as line B. V6.42 modifies the location in the code for the changes described in V6.4 below.
Version 6.4 (5/30/02) Add a new feature in beta test that allows the program to dial a number and play the incoming announcement over the phone line. This can be used for paging in a PBX system that allows you to dial an number on the phone and issue an announcement. I also tested it having it call my cell phone and playing the announcement and it works. To configure, go to Tools > Settings > Misc > Call Number and Play Wav Files When New Call Arrives. Check the box Enable Outbound Dialing for Playing Wav Files and fill out the rest of the form. Note for this to work, you must have a recorded incoming announcement because text-to-speech is not support over the phone line.
Version 6.39 (5/3/02) Fixed a dialing problem when the dial port was a tapi device and the modem was a non-tapi device. Added a toll-saver feature to the answering machine. If you enable this option, the program will answer the call after the caller id information is received if voice mail is waiting, otherwise it will answer after the number of rings you have specified. That way when you remotely retrieve your voice mail and it rings more than twice, you know there is no new voice mail.
Version 6.38 (5/1/02) Added the ability to execute an external command each time any call comes in. If the file Execute.txt exists, the program will run any commands after RUN_COMMAND or load a website after RUN_BROWSER. See the documentation for more details. On the Misc tab of the settings for "Rochelle or ITU PC Caller ID Plugs & Whozz Calling Boxes Only" added a check box "Process caller id information received on this port (this is normally used only if you are monitoring two lines with two Rochelle plugs).
Version 6.37 (4/18/02) On the Dial Number screen, you can now type the letters A to Z on your keyboard to send the corresponding numerical tones on the phone keypad. Also the number keypad, you can press * or + for the * tone and you can press /, - or . for the # tone.
Version 6.36 (4/13/02) On the File menu, added Delete All Entries From Data File so you can delete all the records at once from the active data file. On the Dialing Number screen, if you close it with the X on the upper right, it will now hang up the phone. Moved the ICID and RC tabs to buttons on the Misc tab.
Version 6.34-6.35 (4/11/02) Fixed a speaker phone problem. Added code to recognize bad caller id data where the number was repeated twice and non-numeric on the second number.
Version 6.33 (4/8/02) Some modems don't show report the caller id name until after the second ring. They fail to send a carriage return and line feed after the name. I modified my program to read the name even in this situation although it will have a one second delay. Also for the Whozz Calling Box it will will not attempt to erase the memory on exit when you have either two, three or four Y's in the Modem String to Reset the Modem.
Version 6.32 (4/8/02) After you dial a number with the program, a keypad has been added to the Dialing Number screen to allow you to dial menu selections after your call has been answered. You can also use the numbers on your keyboard and keypad to dial menu selections. This only works in the TAPI mode.
Version 6.31 (4/5/02) Fixed a problem with "Wake Up Screen Saver on Ring" where it would still attempt to do this even when the check box was cleared.
Version 6.3 (3/30/02) To the General settings, added "Wake Up Screen Saver on Ring. This was always the default, but now you can turn this off if it is causing problems or if you do not want the program to wake up your screen saver. Also, updated the TAPI ActiveX component. You can't update a version prior to V6.3 due to this change.
Version 6.26 (3/20/02) Remove leading and trailing spaces from the DDE substitution fields for %formattedphone%, %phone% and %name%.
Version 6.25 (3/18/02) Fixed a problem caused by V6.24 changes which would cause the answering machine to answer as soon as the caller id was received even when it wasn't supposed to. This has been fixed.
Version 6.24 (3/18/02) Corrected a logic error for the answering machine when you selected "Do not answer call" for "Handle Private Calls as Follows:" and "Handle Unavailable Calls as Follows:" and the when the "Answer When Caller ID is Received" box was checked. In this case the program would incorrectly answer private and unavailable calls which has now been corrected.
Version 6.23 (3/14/02) When you set the "You Are Receiving a Call Pop-Up Screen" set to Minimized, the program no longer attempts to wake up your screen saver or monitor. For users with Whozz Calling boxes and Rochelle Plugs, added the ability to automatically record calls from and to callers you select. To set this up, go to Tools > Settings > General > Caller ID Com Port or Tapi Device > select your Whozz Calling or Rochelle caller id com port here > Modem Type (Caller ID Capable) > select the appropriate hardware here. Then for Second Phone Line Modem > select your TAPI modem here. Then on the Misc tab, click Advanced Modem Settings .. > check "Ignore Caller ID and Ring signals from TAPI modem" > Close > Rochelle or ITU PC Caller ID Plugs and Whozz Calling Boxes Only > check "Enable Automatic Recording" > Close > Save. Now on the Databases menu, go to Automatic Recording Database and add those callers that you want to automatically record. You can also select an existing call in the log and then choose Databases > Add Selected Item to Automatic Recording Database.
Version 6.22 (3/2/02) Fixed a problem when you logged off windows or shut down the computer which would cause the computer to hang when Talking Caller ID was running and you had enabled the check box "Minimize when you click the X on the Control Box in the Upper Right".
Version 6.21 (2/28/02) Added an edit to make sure the dialing string while in the TAPI mode is not set to ATDT. If it was, the program did not dial correctly in the TAPI mode.
Version 6.2 (2/27/02) For the DDE Execute command, you can now include the formatted phone number reported by the caller id in this command, enter %formattedphone% and the program will substitute the formatted phone number in place of the %formattedphone%. This is formatted like (123) 456-7890. If you want to include the name in this command, enter %name% and the program will substitute the name in place of the %name%.
Version 6.17-6.19 (2/24/02) V6.17 fixed a problem when playing the Telemarketer Eliminator tones when there are multiple outgoing message files for the person calling (for example if you have recorded a B file in addition to the A file). V6.18 fixed a problem when using the speakerphone which would cause it to hang-up after about 5 minutes or so. V6.19 fixed a problem when testing the playback of outgoing messages when the audio tab setting "Always Say Phone Number Even When Name is Announced" was set to "No". This would effect custom outgoing messages and the standard pre-recorded outgoing messages.
Version 6.16 (2/23/02) Fixed a bug where the email would not be sent after a voice mail arrived when the caller did not press 1 to end the recording. Also if call blocking is not working for your modem in the TAPI mode, you can specific the com port of that same modem for call blocking. Then when a blocked call comes in the program will temporarily exit the TAPI mode, block the call in the non-TAPI mode and then return to the TAPI mode.
Version 6.15 (2/21/02) Fixed an issue with call blocking and updated the help file.
Version 6.14 (2/18/02) On the Voice tab of the settings, added a check box "For Blocked Calls, Use Custom Announcement instead of Blocked Message". Normally for blocked calls, the program plays the Blocked Call message, but when this box it checked, it will play the outgoing message recorded for that phone number if one exists.
Version 6.13 (2/17/02) On the Audio tab of the settings, added a check box "Do Not Use Wav Files for Numbers". This option will use the MS Agent text-to-speech to announce phone numbers instead of the pre-recorded wav files. Also fixed a problem to prevent the incoming call announcement for blocked calls when the "Say Incoming Call When Phone Start Ringing? was set to "Except First".
Version 6.12 (2/11/02) Fixed another playback problem introduced with V6.09.
Version 6.1 (2/7/02) Fixed a playback problem when wav files and text-to-speech was played one after another. This bug was introduced with V6.09 and now fixed. This should also improve the responsiveness of the program when wav files are being played since the program now has control while wav files are being played, while before the operating system did not return control to the program until the wav file was finished playing.
Version 6.09 (2/6/02) Fixed a bug when retrieving voice mail where sometimes the file would not play. I eliminated the MS Agent from playing these voice messages. Also changed the option on the General tab "Minimize when you click the X on the Control Box in the Upper Right". It will no longer show a confirmation box and will minimize the program immediately when this option is enabled and you press the X.
Version 6.07-6.08 (1/31/02) For dialing out using the program, enabled a dialing string in the TAPI mode so you can dial a 9 for an outside line. To do this, go to Tools > Settings > Dial > Dialing String > 9, > Save. The comma after the 9 means to pause before dialing the number. You can enter any series of digits and/or characters in this field. Note, when the Dialing Device is a number, you need to enter the modem command for the Dialing String to dial, usually ATDT. For the TAPI mode when the Dial Device is a modem description, leave the Dialing String blank, except when you have to press some numbers before dialing as described above.
Version 6.05-6.06 (1/17/02) Fixed a problem for the custom email option where it would show the wrong settings after you received a call with voice mail. Also fixed a bug when sending multiple emails at once. V6.06 show attached file name without path in body of email.
Version 6.04 (1/10/02) Fixed a problem where the program would not hang up on calls in the Block Calls Database when the pop-up window closed before the announcement was over. It would proceed to instruct the caller to leave a message instead.
Version 6.03 (1/4/02) On the general tab of the settings, added "Enable Vision Impaired Option to Put Text on Graphical Buttons". This allows screen readers to properly read the meaning of the graphical images which are used for recording, playing and deleting voice announcements on the Standard Recordings, Voice Mail & Other Recordings and Recording for a Specific Caller.
Version 6.02 (1/1/02) Fixed an error when trying version 6 when previously registered. It would say your 21 day trial was over and not let you run the program. Now it will give you a 21 day trial. Also, a required file for the telemarketer eliminator was not being copied for previous owners which has now been fixed. Improved an error message for Internet Caller ID hardware owners who didn't enter their ICID password.
Version 6.01 (12/19/01) Added the ability to play multiple outgoing messages for the answering machine. You can do this for outgoing messages for specific calls, for the default message, unavailable number message, private number message and blocked call message. You can record messages ending with A through Z. If you record an message ending with E, it will be played one time only and then erased. Here is the general idea behind this: let say you are happy with your default message, however you are now going on vacation and want to tell your calls this without deleting the current default greeting. What you can now do is record a DefaultB.wav message and now the answering machine will play the regular default message followed by the DefaultB.wav message which could say you will be out of town until Monday. When you get home, you could then delete DefaultB.wav and your regular greeting will remain intact.
Version 6.0 (12/12/01) Version 6 has a revolutionary new feature which will virtually eliminate telemarketers. The program will actually send a special message to telemarketer's auto dialers which will instruct them to remove your number from their calling lists forever. The program will give you many more options than products such as the TeleZapper and The Call Screener. To configure, go into the settings to the voice tab and click on Configure Telemarketer Eliminator and then you can select which type of calls you want the special tone play for. You can do this for private, unavailable, blocked, calls with outgoing messages and default calls.
